Spreading smiles at Ponsandane Nursing Home
7 October 2024

The Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns meant that residents of nursing homes were isolated from friends and family. In November 2021 we worked with Ponsandane Nursing Home to spread a little happiness.

Due to covid outbreaks the residents had not had many visitors over the previous year. They had also lost all of their support staff, and so felt that the residents needed to see some new faces and to have a little extra joy brought into their lives.

We were able to help by teaming up with a local creative practitioner Sally Crabtree and running a workshop with the residents. The theme of the workshop was happiness, we made simple jewellery, told stories, played music and listened to the residents’ stories of what made them happy. It was a joyful day, and the nursing home staff and the residents all expressed what a difference this has made.

By attending our events or hiring the hall you are helping to fund our community projects. If you would like to make a donation you can do so here.

“I can’t thank you enough for coming in to do this, to see their faces light up like this is wonderful, and I haven’t seen Maureen so engaged in a long while” Sarah Jane – Ponsandane Deputy Manager

“When will you come back again? I’ve so enjoyed today; you’ve made me smile” Betty, Ponsandane resident

Life in a rural village like Mousehole may look idyllic, but many people can experience loneliness….

Okay, thank you
