Supporting small businesses
7 October 2024
We continue to support small local businesses through our Farmers Market and Craft Markets, which run on a weekly basis from Easter to October.
As well as giving local producers and craftspeople the opportunity to trade, we also give advice and signpost to what they need/ where they can get the things in place that they will need to successfully and legally trade (insurance, licenses, correct labelling etc). Our traders have told us that they value our market due to the friendly and supportive environment that we have created, and the excellent marketing that brings customers in.
“We love doing the Mousehole market, it’s our favourite by far, and it’s mainly the trade I do at this market that pays my bills!” Jo Bailey (Candle Maker)
We aim to create a safe and encouraging environment for start-up businesses, and comments from our new traders show that this is working.
“Having the opportunity to trade at the Mousehole Farmers Market, has really helped. I started making jams and pickles to try and raise some money to help pay for the costs my daughter needs to pursue her paralympic sporting career. Being at this market has helped me to turn this project into a proper business, and to earn some much needed money.” Megan (Owner of ‘Abi’s Jam’)
